When I began driving a motorcycle approximately thirty years ago, I bought a full-face Bell Star Helmet - a silver one. I don't know if that helmet is a genuine antique today, but a handful of of those open-faced Bell helmets are creating quite a a level of excitement when they come up for sale. And the real pristine instances appear to sell quite well, too. Then you will find the the old Shoei open face helmets that always seem to get bought up quickly, particularly when in NOS (New Old Stock) condition. Furthermore, it appears that just about just about anything that has a "flake" paint job - gold with bright red appear popular - sell quickly and for lots of cash. Face it, a brightly-colored antique motorcycle helmet looks terrific.
You must remember that a vintage motorcycle helmet is not to be put to use today to protect your own brain bucket - those outdated materials fall apart quickly and the classic motorcycle helmets were never as safe as the ones of today (even when brand-spanking new), thanks to up-to-date engineering, design and manufacturing techniques. That said, there are practically plenty of used helmets that can be thought of , and many of them are extremely economical to buy - go ahead and check them out for yourself!
