Here's a vexing term, (at least to me) - a multi-media video projector. Initially, why precisely is it called multimedia, why is this term combined with a video projector, and why should you be intrigued or even mildly excited? I'll respond to these questions but, just to confuse you (just joking), I'll answer them out of succession!
From my study, multimedia is one of those all-encompassing details that can take on innumerable different meanings and inferences. Multimedia may be a noun, (meaning a medium with a great number of content forms), and is often a union of sound, still images, letters, moving pictures, video, and interactivity as content forms. Telecommunication can be a newspaper that you study with your coffee in the morning, or it can be the television show that you observe in the morning. Media can also be the radio show that you hear as you rinse out the pots and pans, or the textbook that's teaching you advanced math for that engineering degree. Wow - a multi-media video projector has its work cut out!
For a video projector to be truly a multi-media video projector it must experience at in no way good grades for nearly all materials that you will use it for. The most popular resolution for a multimedia video projector is XGA (1024 x 768), with the SVGA for the budget buyers (less quality) and if someone tries to sell you a video projector that has a VGA resolution (640x480) you can tell him to stuff it, as that projector is flat out old fashioned. XGA resolution can imply the the projector will administer nearly all tasks well - from showing charts and graphs at a supplier meeting, to viewing your favorite TV show, to your kids' video games. If you can find a multimedia video projector that is at least satisfactory at these common tasks, then I think it may have actually deserved the label "multimedia."
A faithful multimedia video projector will not be a cheap projector to obtain. Nearly all of the improved brands start at around $1,200 and go up from there - to $5,000 or more. I won't go into detail on brands here, but suffice it to say that there's plenty of struggle for the multimedia video projector market, and you definitely have oodles and gobs of magnificent projectors to buy.
