Right after the cat is done, Litter Robot sifts out the clumps and solid waste materials as well as deposits this into the bottom plate.
While this is a costly bit of technological innovation, Litter Robot makes use of usual store bought clumping litter and garbage tote bags, and it is much more conservative with litter. This will only use about half the amount standard boxes use over time. Over time, one can save a bit of money by using it. There are disadvantages, however. There is an automatic scoop that removes solid waste, and the urine filters through the granules to the disposal rack underneath. The flushing action also cleans the bowl with a mixture contained in a special cartridge.
There are some negative factors for Cat Genie as well. The unit must be hooked to a water source and also an electrical outlet. For that reason it might be difficult for some to find a space appropriate for the device. Cat Genie also demands special granules and cleaning cartridges, which can become a financial burden over time. As with the other system, there is still the possibility of the cat rejecting the unit and refusing to use it.
Robotic litter boxes are great time savers, and they allow people to avoid the nastiness of kitty waste as much as possible. For this reason alone lots of people are willing to invest a chunk of change in the technology.
This Litter Robot review is quite positive in general with the only recurring complaint being its dimension. Cat Genie has good feedback except for the cost and annoyance of the extra accessories and the need for a water hook-up. In the end, the cats and kittens are likely to have the last say since they are the ones who will decide on whether they actually utilize the new gadget.
