There are three levels of cellulite. Grade one is mild, causing only changes in cells. With level two the skin gets pasty and fat tissues become lower in temperature and less elastic. Level three is actually grade two but with the skin appearing much rougher.
How does cellulite form in the first place?
A lot of people are shocked when they first see those unsightly lumps in the mirror, that appear to have come from nowhere. Many need to know what they did to lead to it. But the truth is, there are many variables that can contribute to cellulite. Most experts feel that gender, genetics, hormones, degree of body fat, in addition to diet and lifestyle choices can all contribute to cellulite.
Substantial contributing factors are the hormones insulin and estrogen as well as being predisposed genetically to producing cellulite. What you eat and believe it or not, what you wear can cause cellulite too. Eating too much and consuming foods elevated in carbs, sodium and fat are all contributing factors to getting cellulite. Additional causes are not enough exercise, smoking and restricted clothing.
There are many so called "cures" for cellulite, however, there is no scientific evidence to back these claims. Some common treatments involve injecting the problem areas with drugs and enzymes. Along with this being painful and expensive, these treatments have not been proven to work. Massage is one more popular treatment, but does nothing more than puff up the skin temporarily. Liposuction doesn't work given it gets rid of the deep layers of fat rather than the fat at the surface of the skin.
However, there is a new anti cellulite cream that does show some promise. Scientific studies by top universities have shown it to 'deflate' fat cells like a balloon. This anti cellulite cream is relatively new and even more studies may be required to find out if it truly works. In the meantime, it seems that the only surefire way to greatly reduce cellulite is good ole' fashion diet and exercise...and maybe a new anti cellulite cream.
