Chris Bosh trade rumors
Chris Bosh could become a free agent this summer and leave Toronto. In fact many think that he will actually leave and Bosh leaving Toronto is certainly more likely than LeBron leaving Cleveland. He has been their franchise player for several years and it would be sad to see him go for most of the fans but it’s always about what you get for him.
Andrew Bynum is certainly worse than Bosh right now but he could become better and better every year still that’s not guaranteed. Many think that Bynum is a lock to become a future perennial All-Star and the best center in the league besides Dwight but he has shown he’s quite injury prone and you can never know what will happen. One thing we all do know is that Bosh is one of the top players in the league at the moment and if the Lakers get him it would be extremely hard for any team in this league to challenge them.
If Bosh is really determined to leave than Toronto probably should grab Bynum (or maybe Bynum + a reserve) before the deadline because they may not get an offer that good later. In fact they could end up with absolutely nothing.
This is what Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo says:
“For the record, I am not actively seeking a deal or discussing Bosh with any team, much less the Lakers.
“I haven’t traded him yet and our position has been the same. We will not make a deal just to make a deal. Our intention is to keep him here long term.
“Additionally, I have not yet offered an extension as Dwyane Wade and LeBron James both received [from their respective teams].“
I guess it’s all about the right price. Bynum is nice but it’s certainly not a no-brainer.
Still Andrew hasn’t reached his full potential and it seems that he doesn’t know how to play with Gasol so maybe Toronto would be the right place for him to blossom into an All-Star. On the other hand Toronto already have Andrea Bargnani – a young center who can shoot the lights out and they love him there.
As for the Lakers – it is believable that Gasol/Bosh duo will do better than Gasol/Bynum duo and Chris is well suited for Phil’s triangle offence. But there are the negative aspects – Bosh is a max contract player so that means more spending for LA and another thing – he has used to have a lot of touches, probably more than he will have if playing for the Lakers.
Other possible destinations for Bosh include Golden State, Houston (T-Mac????) and Chicago.
